2026 Juneteenth Celebration Information

Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth, “Juneteenth Celebrate History Party” at Siloam Road Firehouse in Freehold. This year we celebrate in the memory of former President Emeritus Lillie Ham Hendry. Come and enjoy music, fun, and food!

Juneteenth is a national holiday which brings awareness to the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans via the Emancipation Proclamation. Stop by as we bring awareness and celebrate.

2026 Black History Program - “A Century of Black History Commemorations”

Our programming related to Black History is rooted in the belief that Black History is to be celebrated throughout the year. The culmination of our celebration of Black History is the Annual Black History Program which is open to the entire community. As we endeavor to fulfill our mission of “maintaining the observance of CSSECC’s Black history within Freehold, NJ” and beyond, we ask that you join us as we celebrate Black history in June of 2026 through spoken word, music, and other creative expressions.

Engraved Brick campaign - permanent placement on-site

Be a permanent part of the physical history of the Court Street School with your purchase of a brick. Bricks will include a message or name of your choice and will be permanently placed on the historical front walkway of the Court Street School. Purchasing a brick is a perfect way to represent your business, memorialize a loved one or alumnus, or even make your own name a part of the grounds permanently at Court Street School.

The initial bricks have been ordered and will be placed on the Court Street School grounds in April, 2024! For those who wish to place orders at this time, it is possible by completing the electronic form, but it is important to note that deliveries will be placed in orders of five.

 

One-Room Schoolhouse Tour of Western Monmouth

The tour includes the following schoolhouses: Montrose School (1812), (Colts Neck); the Court Street School (1915), Freehold Borough; the West Freehold School (1847), Freehold Township; the Georgia Road School (1753), Freehold Township; the Old Ardena School (1855), Howell; and the Blansingburg School (1855), Wall.

Vita Tax Program 2026

One of two of its kind within the greater Freehold area, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program hosted at Court Street School offers tax completion services at no cost for qualified individuals. Services are offered weekly on-site between February 1 and April 15 annually.
